The Terence Mauger One Loft Pigeon Race and other events

Terence Mauger was taken ill with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in March 2015 and despite being a hugely positive person with unbeatable determination he passed away on 11th September that same year. His daughter Fiona passed all donations from his funeral to Leukaemia Busters and on 1st May this year his brother John and his wife Sally organised the above event as a tribute to Terence and his love of pigeon racing.

80 pigeons were released at Salisbury and made their way back to their loft at their garden in Chilton. The pigeons were each sponsored for £10 and the 6 winners' owners received prizes.

The family also organised a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses in Long Crendon and the surrounding area where Terence had lived for over 50 years, a bar, a BBQ, a cake stall and a Pound in a Bucket for the 100+ friends and family who attended. The event has so far raised £1,600.

Fiona says; "It was a lovely day as everyone enjoyed themselves and everyone was able to feel part of something that my dad really enjoyed and we were able to remember my dad and reminisce".

Leukaemia Busters would like to send all our thanks to John and Sally, Fiona, Terence's family and friends and the companies who supported this event.

Since the Pigeon Loft Race Fiona and her family and friends have raised a further £571 at a Coffee Morning and Sale and £586 by holding a Quiz Night, bringing the total raised to date to £4153.00.
